Coco Chanel

Before the 1920s, only the wealthy would be able to wear jewelry. Most could not afford it, and costume jewelry was looked down upon. Then along came Coco Chanel. She revolutionized the fashion industry- and one of her primary accomplishments in doing so was making jewelry available to everyone. She believed every woman should be able to feel beautiful in jewelry, even if it wasn’t real. In 1933, she created her own line of costume jewelry. Since then, Chanel is known for its beautiful faux jewelry. Here is a current piece available on Chanel’s website.
